What is limber tail in Labs?

By · Updated

Short answer

Limber tail (acute caudal myopathy) is a painful strain of the tail muscles that leaves a Lab’s tail suddenly hanging limp, usually within a day of a long swim, hard exercise, cold weather or long crate time. With rest and vet-prescribed anti-inflammatories, most dogs recover within a few days to two weeks.
